CURRENT OPENINGS
Big Sister Theatre is a theatre charity based in London, creating emotionally intelligent gatherings around theatrical experience: live opportunities for people to think, feel and connect together. We are launching a free monthly community gathering on a format that is new to London, and we need a creative producer for the first three.
THE NIGHT
• A free community gathering for storytellers of all kinds on Sunday evenings, once a month
• New pieces of writing, about 10 to 15 minutes each
• Electronic music and movement are part of the night
• A place for creatives to fall back in love with their craft, built around the reality of being a working artist
• A format that is new to London, and has worked abroad for over three decades
• Free to attend and meant to stay that way
• We are aiming for 50 to 100 people each night
• Night 1 is Sunday 17 January, with Nights 2 and 3 following monthly
THE ROLE
• Create the mood of the night - both in the room and online - alongside Big Sister's Artistic Director, who hosts the evening
• Build the marketing plan from our starting draft, then carry it out for each night
• Plan, make and publish social media posts in a consistent voice, including short videos edited from footage of the night
• Reach actors, writers and other creatives through networks and communities
• Open free ticketing and build a simple tracker we can both read
• Run the door and the welcome on the night
• Track what works on the marketing side and tell us
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• You have filled a room from nothing before
• You are proficient at social media: clear, consistent and comfortable with simple tools such as Canva. You can edit catchy short reels from phone footage
• You are part of the London art scene
• You are connected to creatives of many kinds, including writers, actors, musicians and comedians, or know how to reach them
• You thrive in a multicultural environment and are emotionally intelligent
• You enjoy thinking outside the box
• You are free on Sunday 17 January. This is mandatory: Night 1 cannot move.
THE TERMS
• Paid: £2,750 flat fee for ~15-18 working days, in instalments across the three nights. The fee is fixed for this round
• Starting in late November and running to March
• Self-employed, remote, your own hours as long as deadlines are met, plus in person at each monthly night
• A three-night contract, with the possibility of a longer-term role if the events go well
HOW TO APPLY
Email info@bigsistertheatre.co.uk with the subject CREATIVE PRODUCER by midnight on Wednesday 11 November, with:
• What an emotionally intelligent gathering looks like to you. Tell us about a night you loved, an event you want to build, or what other gatherings could be doing differently (up to 200 words)
• Your CV and links to social accounts you have run, or posts you are proud of, with a line on what happened. A portfolio works too
• A gathering or audience you helped build from nothing: what you did, who came, what you learned and what you would carry forward. It can be outside the arts (up to 200 words)
• How you are connected to the creative scene in London (2 lines or so)
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
• We will contact shortlisted candidates only, by Friday 13 November
• Interviews will take place week commencing 16 November
If you need this in another format, just ask.
